#Handmade - Crafts and me

As some of you may know, I am an impatient person when it comes to certain things.
Learning new things for example.
My attention span is that of a sparrow and long reading for learning is not for me (mind, I can read a Novel for hours).

I see something and want to do it. Now. And most preferably without having to learn the craft properly.
Of course that doesn't work out too well and time spent on disasters would have been better invested in learning it properly in the first place.

Since the first barrier for sowing has come down (my fear of sowing machines), I should take the next step and learn the craft properly. Since I actually DO enjoy it, surprise here!
I just need myself to sit down and work from instructions. Otherwise all is doomed for failure and I'll never make clothes that actually fit the way I want them to.

I guess I have to step down from being almighty and learn the ropes. Maeh.... :-)
I want T-Shirts and pants and ..... NOW

But if anything, my latest 3 disasters taught me that I need to go the long way.

The material still can be used for handbag lining and thank goodness it was cheap. Sigh.

Finally did a lining for my project bag. Not prefect, but a start ;-)

Endlich das Futter fuer die Projekttasche genaeht, nicht perfekt, aber ein Anfang :-)

And a 'curtain' for my flower stand (an old cable roll thingy I collected) from curtain Leftovers (I shortened the curtains last week, one perfect the other not so much ;-))

Und letzte Woche aus Vorhangresten (hab meine Vorhaenge gekuerzt (den einen perfekt, den anderen nicht ganz perfekt....) ein 'Tuch' fuer meinen Blumenstaender (eine alte Kabelrolle, die ich aufgesammelt hab ;-))

#Handmade - Needle case / Nadeltasche

I hate it when my circular needles flop around in my bag. I'll make little bags like this one for each size and sow on the needle#. That should help :-)
Next one will be with two Velcro thingies though.

Ich mag's gar nicht, wenn meine Nadeln in meiner Tasche rumfliegen und ich mehr Muehe hab die richtige zu finden, als irgendwas zu stricken. Also mach ich mir kleine Taschen, naeh die Nadelstaerke vorne drauf und das sollte an sich helfen :-)
Die nachste Tasche bekommt allerdings zwei Klettverschluesse :-)

#Handmade / Sowing - another Test T-Shirt :-)

Noch ein Versuch fuer ein T-Shirt.
Diesmal ist es sogar tragbar. Zwar noch verbesserungswuerdig, aber tragbar :-)
Faszinierend auch, wie VIEL Stoff, fuer so wenig Shirt weg geht.
Andre Leute machen da Zelte draus ;-)

I love the idea of making something useful / pretty out of these poor bags, that otherwise end up in the trash.

I wish all of Kuwait would give me their poor coffee and rice Burlap bags :-D

#Handmade, First Pillow Case

After figuring out in which direction the machine sows, it's working nicely.
With some Hickups of course.
I am working on a short dress and had most of it sowed by hand already. The last seams were done by machine and I tried to make a button hole. Managed to sow the fabric to the machine ;-)
And I took the machine apart halfway for the second button hole I tried. Managed to forget to put the foot down and tangled the thread around the Bobbin so the needle wouldn't move one single bit. Oh well.
Live and learn.

Did this pillow case from a tiny blanky that was wrapped around a pillow. Now it is a 'real' pillow case.
Took me less than an hour, WITH sowing in the loose ends
;-)
Once I figure out the button hole mystery, it will get some buttons as well :-)
